 Bob Nelson was appointed by the City Council of San Diego on January 10, 2011 to represent the City of San Diego on the Board of Port Commissioners. He is an advertising and public relations executive with 30 years of experience in government and communications. The company he founded, BNA Communications, advises a diverse list of clients, including utility companies, labor unions and non-profit organizations. A strong community leader, he currently serves as chair of San Diego's Citizens Revenue Review and Economic Competitiveness Commission and as a secretary-treasurer of San Diego Theatres, Inc., operator of the San Diego Civic Theatre and the Balboa Theatre. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation, San Diego's Public Utilities Advisory Commission; the San Diego County District Attorney's Community Advisory Board; the board of directors of the San Diego Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center; and the Finance Committee of the Greater San Diego Business Association.
